The product

Every radio signal, inside the tunnel.

TP-DAB is Teleproject's digital radio system for bringing radio signals into tunnels and keeping them active at all times. A Master Unit receives FM, DAB+, and TETRA signals outside and distributes them in digital format over optical fibre (CPRI) to the Remote Units installed along the tunnel, which rebroadcast them on the radiating cable. A single unit integrates per-channel selective repeating, break-in modulators, and management, eliminating the analogue combiners found in traditional systems.

In an emergency, TP-DAB interrupts the programming and broadcasts an alert message — from a pre-recorded file, a live voice announcement, or a VoIP call — on the selected tunnel zones, independently for each bore. The architecture is redundant, with automatic remapping of resources to a backup Master Unit, and scalable by licence.

The product

What it does.

Rebroadcasts FM, DAB+, and TETRA signals received outside into the tunnel and, in an emergency, interrupts the programming to broadcast an alert announcement.

Multi-technology repeater

Receives FM, DAB+, and TETRA signals outside and rebroadcasts them inside the tunnel, channel by channel, with sub-band filters and automatic gain control.

Emergency break-in

In an emergency, interrupts the programming and broadcasts an alert announcement on FM and DAB+ directly to car radios, with independent zones for each tunnel bore.

Fibre-optic distribution

A Master Unit feeds the Remote Units along the tunnel via optical fibre (CPRI): digital signal, no degradation, simple cabling.

How it works.

A Master Unit receives signals outside and distributes them digitally over optical fibre to the Remote Units along the tunnel, which rebroadcast them on the radiating cable, with independent break-in zones for each bore.

From the technical room to the tunnel.

The Master Unit lives in the technical room at the tunnel entrance. The Remote Units are distributed along the tunnel and feed the radiating cable in both bores.

The break-in requires no app or on-board device: the announcement reaches listeners on the same radio channel they are already tuned to. From the Respondr console, the operator can send pre-recorded or live messages, broadcast on FM and DAB+ in the selected bores.

  • Digital distribution over optical fibre

    RF signals travel in digital format over optical fibre (CPRI) from the Master Unit to the Remote Units: no signal degradation and a better signal-to-noise ratio than analogue links.

  • Per-channel selective repeater

    Repeats and reconditions FM, DAB+, TETRA, and TETRAPOL channel by channel (up to 32 FM channels and 12 DAB+ ensembles), with sub-band filters and automatic gain control.

  • Multi-zone emergency break-in

    Interrupts the programming and broadcasts the alert announcement on FM and DAB+, with independent zones for each tunnel bore.

  • Flexible audio sources

    Sources can be a pre-recorded file, a live voice announcement, or a VoIP call, with the option of also replacing the text on the car radio display.

  • Master and Remote architecture

    A Master Unit feeds multiple Remote Units along the tunnel in star, daisy-chain, or redundant topology, with up to 16 optical connections per device.

  • Built-in redundancy

    If a link fails, the system automatically remaps radio resources to a backup Master Unit, keeping the service active.

  • Radiating cable monitoring

    For radiating cable continuity, TP-DAB pairs with TP-CCV2, the Teleproject system dedicated to radiating cable monitoring in tunnels.

  • Web management and licence scalability

    Configuration and supervision from an integrated web interface, with SNMP and GPIO for integration. Features are licence-activated: you pay only for what you need.

  • Respondr integration

    The emergency break-in can also be triggered from the Respondr console, Teleproject's control room system: from the same position, the operator selects the bores and sends the announcement, pre-recorded or live.

Announcement and supervision

The emergency announcement replaces both the audio and the text on the car radio display, with independent zones for each tunnel bore. On DAB+, the break-in can also send an image displayed on the car radio screen. Audio sources are a pre-recorded file, a live voice announcement, or a VoIP call. Supervision is handled by an integrated web interface with SNMP and GPIO for integration and event logging; the architecture is redundant, with automatic remapping of resources to a backup Master Unit.
